Do You Want This Subdomain?

November 25, 2011

Let’s face it – a good name in your subdomain can have a huge impact on the number of hits your site gets.  Sites like Creative.Wordpress.Com  get hits every day, even if there’s nothing new to show.  And, judging by the number of failed attempts to reset this sites password, I believe there are people out there that would love to get their hands on this subdomain.

Originally I had big plans for this blog but, alas, the amount of time I have to invest in it simply isn’t materializing.  Following the spirit of this post, I am offering to hand Creative.Wordpress.Com over to someone who can prove themselves worthy.

To enter, simply add a comment to this post with your ideas on how you plan to use this site and your thoughts on the first couple of posts you would like to make (just a line or two).  Once I have a few to choose from I will make a selection and  transfer the sub-domain to the person with ideas that make me feel warm and fuzzy.

You have a bit of time – I probably won’t choose the winner before the end of 2011, so there’s no need to rush.

Get writing and Good Luck!

Lyrics for Lovers (a service idea)

April 2, 2011

There are two types of people in the world:  Those who listen to song lyrics and those who don’t.

For some people the lyrics to a song are so key that they dramatically alter their perception of the listener.  A great song lyric can change their mood, alter their opinion, or drive them to action.

If you want to communicate with a Lyric Listener at a truly personal level, the best way is to use a carefully selected song to deliver your message. The music will penetrate at a level where they will not only hear the message, but the emotional content that goes along with it.  It will, quite simply, reach parts of them that ordinary words never could.

Service Offering / Use Case:  You are dating a lyric listener and wish to send him/her a special message.

After visiting the Lyrics for Lovers website you are asked a few simple questions, such as your targets favorite artists, genres, age and the message you want to send.  This information (minus any personal details such as contact information) will be distributed to ‘lyric agents‘  – crowd sourced people that believe they have the skills, and musical knowledge, to deliver your intended message through music. Each of the lyric agents that chooses to participate will provide a playlist, lyrics and highlight important items relative to the message.

The lyric agent who’s selection is chosen is paid your web fee and you are provided with several options of how to deliver your lyrical love note.  Delivery can be via a variety of means that you choose including an iTunes gift, flowers with a CD or even an MP3 player, a personalized website (with a code needed to access the message), singing telegram, etc.

If you are interested in discussing with idea with me please add a comment including your email address.  I won’t approve it, so it won’t be sent to the world, but I will contact you to discuss matters further.

Welcome to the Creative Ideas blog

February 26, 2011

Why are we here?

The idea behind this blog is very simple – to create a place to share creative ideas and inspriation.  These can be business ideas, ideas for social innovation/change, or just thought provoking comments that can help spur new ideas or help people keep going when they are ready to give up.

The hope is that by sharing ideas and allowing people to comment and suggest improvement, we might help push some of these through to completion.

I have notebooks full of business ideas that I have never acted upon, and I am sure I am not alone.  I plan to share some of those here.  If people are interested enough then I see several possible outcomes:

  1. A partnership starts and the idea gets taken forward
  2. One of the parties involved is interested enough to take the idea on their own and run with it
  3. After discussion the idea is either deemed not workable, or that now is not the right time for it

But I don’t want this just to be about my ideas, I’d like it to be your ideas too. If you have an ideas or interesting articles that could benefit from sharing, please pass them along.  If I like your entries I will make you a contributor to the site and you can start to manage a piece of this blog.

But, as anyone who has ever started a company will tell you, the ideas are the easy part.  With that in mind, words of encouragement, links to useful websites, supportive comments are also welcome.
